Walk & Talk
Therapy
Sometimes the most meaningful conversations happen when you're moving. Therapy doesn't have to happen across a desk — it can happen side by side, outside, at your own pace.

A Different Kind of Session
Therapy that moves
with you
Walk and Talk therapy takes our session outside — side by side at a local park serving Magnolia, The Woodlands, and Tomball — and something shifts. The formality drops. The walls come down. Clients who have struggled to open up in a traditional office setting often find the words come more naturally when they're moving through fresh air instead of sitting across from someone.
This isn't a casual walk. It's a full therapy session — with the same intentionality, the same therapeutic framework, and the same depth of work — just in a different container. One that happens to be very good for your nervous system.

The Science Behind It
Why walking makes
therapy work better
This isn't just a preference — there's real neuroscience behind why movement unlocks the therapeutic process.
Bilateral Stimulation
Walking is a natural form of bilateral stimulation — the alternating left-right movement of your body activates both hemispheres of the brain simultaneously. This is the same neurological mechanism used in EMDR therapy for trauma processing. Research shows it calms the nervous system's fight-or-flight response and reduces the emotional intensity of difficult topics, making them easier to approach and work through.
Less Formality, More Openness
Walking side by side rather than face to face changes the dynamic in ways that matter. The absence of direct eye contact reduces the intensity of vulnerability. The shared forward movement creates a sense of equality between therapist and client. Research consistently shows clients disclose more freely, with less resistance and anxiety, during walk and talk sessions compared to traditional office therapy.
Nature as Co-Therapist
Time in natural environments has been shown to reduce cortisol levels, lower heart rate, improve mood, and calm the nervous system — all before the therapeutic work even begins. Natural sounds, open space, and fresh air draw the brain into a relaxed, reflective state that is ideal for emotional processing and genuine self-awareness.

Common Questions
Walk & Talk therapy FAQ
Sessions take place at a local park in the Magnolia, The Woodlands, or Tomball area. We'll confirm the specific location when you book. The setting is chosen for privacy, natural environment, and ease of access.
Yes — this is a full therapy session with the same depth and intentionality as an office session. The research actually suggests movement can enhance the therapeutic process for many clients, particularly those working through trauma, anxiety, or emotional stuckness.
Privacy is taken seriously. Sessions are conducted at quieter times and locations chosen to minimize the chance of being overheard or running into people you know. If you have specific privacy concerns, we can talk through them before your first session.
If weather makes an outdoor session impractical, we'll switch to a virtual or in-office session for that day. Flexibility is built in so your care is never interrupted.
Yes — Walk and Talk sessions are billed the same as standard therapy sessions. I'm in-network with Aetna and Cigna. I can also provide a superbill for other plans, and private pay clients are welcome — reach out to discuss rates.
